A message from Cheryl

We're so happy you are here! I love to get to know people, so I think it's only fair that I share a bit of myself with you.

The picture at the top of the page was taken in our field one beautiful fall afternoon. I'm surrounded by our four pups, Milly, Peach, Andy and Blu. The guy sitting next to me is my husband Al. We also have a son Ian, but he's a little picture shy!

I left the corporate world of Hazardous Waste and Spill Control in 1996 to soothe the creative side of my soul.  It took me a while to find my place, but my new journey lead me to a 7th generation furniture maker in my hometown of Madison Connecticut.

I studied under him for two years learning the art of furniture restoration and custom upholstery.  Then, in 1999, he kicked me out! In all fairness to him, I should also tell you that he was retiring and encouraged me to start my own business.  My husband and I were in the middle of building a new home, so we designed a workshop in the lower level of the barn and opened Four Winds Custom Upholstery and Interior Decorating a few months later.

I worked in the furniture industry for more than a decade, loving every minute of it:

I had the joy of bringing old, but cherished furniture back from the brink of disrepair to beautifully restored and usable again.

I helped families to create a home that reflected their personalities while being both functional and stylish.

I helped others to design their perfect kitchen.

It was wonderful! But like all journeys, I was led down another path and spent the next few years teaching online marketing to women entrepreneurs.

Today, my journey has taken me full circle, back to my love of beautiful furniture, inspiring artwork, and the great outdoors. You will find high quality products that reflect that love.  And of course, there is also lots of dog stuff and other things I feel are just plan fun! But that you already know, because you are here visiting with me now.

I also feel strongly about giving back to community. I do this on a local level by running a non-profit charitable organization that provides a variety of services to our neighbors who need a helping hand. We also give back globally by donating 10% of our net income to other charities that are actively creating positive change in our world.

Please reach out to me with any questions you may have or perhaps a note telling me a little bit about yourself via our contact page
